Omukisa is a program that was established to help street connected children in Iganga District. The increasing number of children on the streets jump started the idea of this project and with help from our partners, we were able to set up a centre where the children are taken care of and provided for.
Omukisa rehabilitation centre is a home for street-connected children {boys} located in
Bulubandi Iganga district. The centre is helping over 30 former street-connected
children who have been. A number of children have also been reunited with families and
we are still working with those still on the street to get them off.
At Omukisa rehabilitation centre, these children go through a series of training to help them adapt to
life off the streets like psychosocial support, introduction to catch-up education that will
enable them to adapt to formal education, and skilling for some of the boys and with
time, the children are reconnected with their parents or relatives.
